Proper Warmup Prior to Exercising to Avoid Injury
Proper warmups will always protect a person from injuries while exercising. Proper warmups include stretching, eating right, and light cardio activities. Prior to running, walking for at least 5 minutes is always recommended. Walking allows blood to circulate through the body and flex muscles. Stretching should always be a part of any proper warmup as well. When stretching, a person should always hold ease pose for at least 10 seconds. Sometimes it helps to verbally count to ten to keep track of time. If stretching is too painful, then one should never try to force a pose. One should begin any exercise by stretching with the arms and then making one’s way down to the legs. Stretching should also include the mid-section. Stretching is the most important part of a warmup and will prevent strains and sprains. Eating right before a workout is also important. One should never work out on a fully empty stomach. Taking a few bites of a banana or munching on some crackers is a good idea. For marathon runners especially, eating a power bar or banana is highly recommended. Just a little bit of food can give person the energy needed to have a successful workout.
