Keep On Runnin’! Just Don’t Forget To Stretch!
So maybe you’re not some hip young thing with the hottest smartphone or eating sushi or driving a hybrid or even shopping for Reliant energy rates Nolanville style – but at least you still run, right? For many people, a good run a day can help weather that nasty transition between youth and old age, but one of the most important things you need to remember, especially in your advanced age, is the fundamental exercise known as stretching. Stretch out before a run and make sure you stretch after one. When you stretch, you are helping your muscle development by reinforcing both the elasticity and endurance of your muscle tissue. However, one of the most important reasons you would want to stretch is because, if you don’t, you could injure yourself. Cramps can occur if you have not properly stretched those muscles and if you aren’t careful the muscles in your legs could decide to quit on you. The last thing you want on a run is for your legs to suddenly lock up on you, which is why you stretch – especially now in your old age. I mean, let’s face it; you have enough to worry about without having to deal with sore legs.
